Click-In Vinyl Stair Nosing

Our vinyl nosings are crafted with every detail in mind. The groove we cut is designed to accomplish a clean, eased edge without stretching the picture or clearcoat. If the cut isn’t perfect and too much material is left behind, it will stretch the clearcoat and film, causing discoloration and premature wear.

Our unique blade design ends with a perfect result without any of these issues. The glue we use has been tested and designed to be stronger than the vinyl material itself, and our glue seam is stronger than the actual vinyl plank.

We remove the interior padding of the nosing to form a solid bond between the existing tread and the vinyl plank core. The padding on the vinyl isn’t always 100% bonded. This simple detail will alleviate the problems of the vinyl steps separating from the padding and coming loose.

Leaving the plank the full width will prevent unnecessary seams. Cutting the planks down would be easier and cheaper to ship but also cause additional waste and an extra seam in the back of the step. Your average vinyl will need just one plank clicked into it to complete your tread.

Glue Down Vinyl Stair Nosing

The only difference between our click vinyl and the glue-down vinyl process is the added support we install on the glue-down version. We chemically weld a firm filler to the vinyl to give the otherwise flimsy vinyl a solid structure that can be installed over the stair treads in the same fashion as the floor.

Wood Laminate Stair Nosing

Our laminate and wood nosing are cut to perfection. Using specialized blades, we provide beveled edge stair nosings that don’t require extra staining or painting to accomplish a finished look. This is a key detail that often gets overlooked.

How It Works

When looking at our laminate and engineered wood nosing, you’ll see that the machined perfection is precise to reach these results. The edge is slightly different because vinyl normally has several plies of flexible clear coat as the wear layer. Laminate and engineered wood, on the other hand, use a hard spray on a clear coat like aluminum oxide, which is not flexible and must be cut all the way through the product to wrap around the stair tread.

Our blades were specifically designed to provide a small beveled edge that doesn’t require extra staining or painting to achieve a finished look.

If we were to simply miter (45*) cut the material, we would be left with a sharp edge. That edge would then need to be beveled (Routered). When you bevel that edge, you’re faced with the core of the material showing through that needs to be blended. Although this edge can be stained or painted, it will always wear off down the road.

All our nosings are designed to look just as good years down the road as they did on day one.
